Themed Press Drops
As reported in the last Importers Update, the Summer Drinking Press Drop was very successful securing a lot of coverage which has continued to trickle in over the couple of months. We have since launched the third press drop of the year, which focused on white varietals other than Riesling. The wines included illustrate the diversity of German wines available in the UK and highlight the modern approach to winemaking in Germany. The wines are as follows:
*Villa Wolf Silvaner 2007
*Palatium Pinot Blanc 2007
*D:Vine Pinot Grigio 2007
*Kendermanns Special Edition Pinot Grigio Chardonnay 2007
*Devil’s Rock Pinot Grigio 2007
This press drop was targeted mainly at regional and consumer press and so far we have received coverage in regional publications the Shropshire Star (circulation 73,851) and the Newcastle Journal (circulation 36,856). The Daily Mirror (circulation 1,455,270) also featured the Palatium Blanc 2007 in the wine column on Saturday 1st November, and further coverage is expected in the run up to Christmas in the Aberdeen Press & Journal and other regional and consumer publications.
The final press drop of the year will take place in November, and the theme will be Pinot Noir, due to the recent success of German pinot noir in the trade - namely the Decanter Awards’ Best International Pinot Noir over £10 win for Meyer Näkel.

In addition to this activity, we have been proactively contacting journalists throughout the UK to enquire whether they would like any German wines for their upcoming features, in particular, their Christmas features. We have received interest from many publications with samples so far sent to the Press Association, Company Magazine, Food & Drink Magazine to name a few. We have had confirmation that wines will be included in your Home Magazine in February 2009.
